'Moments to Live' Story Code '67324' by Tommy Thompson

4th May 1985: Sam’s shock at becoming Doctor Craig Connor as he fails to save the life of a patient quickly turns to relief when he discovers that he is really Kyle Hart, an actor in the popular television soap-opera ‘Moments to Live’. During a break from recording Sam has lunch with obsessive fan Norma Jean Pilcher, winner of a competition run by the detergent company that sponsors the show. Although Norma has trouble separating Kyle from his on-screen persona, Sam does his best to be nice – until the ‘date’ ends and Norma pulls out a gun to force Sam into a van driven by her husband, Hank. Sam tries to talk his way out of the kidnapping, but his abductors refuse to listen, and instead take him to meet Norma’s wheelchair-bound mother, Millie Reynolds, Kyle’s second biggest fan. Al appears with the information that Kyle vanished for two weeks, before being discovered wandering the mountains with a shotgun wound to the head; not only that, but Norma is a former mental patient, and Millie is really her fellow room-mate. Sam finally learns why he has been abducted: with Hank sterile, Norma wants ‘Craig’ to father her child…
